CHAN QUALIFIER: Ghana beat Benin away to set up Nigeria clash

Daniel Afriyie Barnieh’s solitary goal handed Ghana a 1-0 win over Benin in the second leg of the Championship of Africa Nations qualifiers.

The Hearts of Oak forward in a second successive game for the Black Galaxies found the back of the net as Ghana cruised to the next round of qualifiers.

Afriyie lashed onto a pass from substitute Omar Bashiru to score the only goal of the game in the 78th minute.

The win sees Ghana progress on a 4-0 aggregate score after recording a 3-0 victory in the first leg match played at the Cape Coast Stadium.

Ghana will now take on Nigeria in the final round of qualifiers in a bid to secure a ticket to next year’s competition in Algeria.

The Black Galaxies, two times finalists have failed to qualify for the competition in the last three editions.

Ghana last made an appearance in the CHAN tournament in 2014 when the team went on to lose the finals to Libya on penalties.
