Commonwealth Games: Black Bombers captain Abubarkar Quartey crash out in Men’s Middleweight event

Black Bombers skipper Abubarkar Kwesi Quartey could not advance to the last eight in the Men’s Middleweight division after losing to Nigeria’s Adeyinka Benson in a split decision.

Quartey becomes the second Ghanaian boxer to crash out of the Commonwealth games after Ornella Sathoud also lost to England’s Kerry Davies in the Women’s division.

Already Shakul Samed has been disqualified for failing an anti-doping test.

Ghana however remain hopeful to clinch a medal in boxing having won the only medal for the country in the last edition in Gold Coast after Jesse Lartey picked up bronze in the Men’s Welterweight division.
