COMMONWEALTH GAMES: Ghana finishes 34th after picking 5 medals

Ghana managed to scoop 5 medals at this year’s Commonwealth Games competition in Birmingham.

Team Ghana improved on their previous outing 4 years ago where they could only manage 1 medal.

After Day 10 of the games, Ghana picked up medals in Athletics and boxing out of 12 disciplines.

Ghana participated in Athletics, Boxing, Acquatics-Diving, Swimming, Badminton, Beach Volleyball, Track Cycling, Hockey, Judo, Para Powerlifting, Table Tennis, Triathlon and Weightlifting.

Boxers Abraham Mensah and Joseph Commey all picked silver for Ghana with Walid Omar taking bronze.

US-based Athlete Joseph Amoah also won bronze in the Men’s 200m event whiles Deborah Acquah also emerged as a bronze medalist in the Women’s long jump.

Ghana in total finished 34th on the medal table with 5 medals to their credit.

Meanwhile team Ghana faced an unfortunate incident after the Men’s 4×100 relay team got disqualified in the finals due to violation and technical error having made a good run in the semis.
