COMMONWEALTH GAMES: Ghana’s Alex Amankwah through to 800m semis

Alex Amankwa has made it to the finals of the Men’s 800m at the Commonwealth Games.

The US-based athlete qualified by securing one of two non automatic qualification spots after finishing third in Heat 3

Amankwa made a time of 1:48:26 to place third in Heat 3, a time which was enough to qualify him to the finals.

This comes after the athlete had a disappointing time at the World Athletics Championship in Oregon where he got disqualified in the heats despite making it to the semis.

He will now prepare for the finals which comes off on Friday and hopefully give a shot at a medal.
