Ghana’s Jesse Lartey lost to Mohammed Harris Akbar of England in the Men’s Light Middleweight.
The 26-year-old who was one of Ghana’s medal hopefuls lost by a unanimous decision.
Lartey won Ghana’s only medal at the 2018 Commonwealth Games and was hoping to repeat that feat.
“Yes I won bronze in 2017 and I am hoping to change the color of the medal to Gold this time around,” the boxer said during the opening ceremony of this year’s Commonwealth games.
His dream of winning another medal has now been shuttered with the defeat.
Ghana still have two boxers advancing in the Lightweight and Featherweight Divisions.
