Having pre-season abroad not a guarantee to winning GPL – Hearts of Oak PRO Opare Addo

Hearts of Oak’s Communications Director, Kwame Opare Addo has stated that a club having pre-season abroad is not guaranteed to win a major title.

His comments are on the back of a question he was asked on Asempa FM whether Hearts will follow Kotoko’s footsteps of having pre-season outside the country.

The Porcupine Warriors announced that they will be in Turkey for pre-season after visiting Dubai last season.

Opare Addo answering said, Hearts of Oak do not follow trends but work on its own timelines.

“Hearts of Oak will decide where to have pre-season. We don’t look at an opponent to do what we do. Two seasons ago we had preseason in Ghana but won the league so soon we will make a decision whether to move out or not. Manchester United move out of England for pre-season but they haven’t won anything in a while. All that matters is finding a serene environment. Going out of the country isn’t a guarantee that you’ll win the league”

Hearts of Oak finished 6th in the just ended Ghana Premier League but won the MTN FA Cup.

They are expected to represent Ghana in this year’s CAF Confederations Cup.
