The full list of managers for the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season has been officially unveiled, with 18 coaches set to lead their respective clubs into the new campaign. The graphic released by the Ghana Premier League confirms a fascinating blend of returning champions, foreign tacticians and trusted local hands.
The spotlight will be on the big boys. Asante Kotoko have appointed South African Eric Tinkler to lead their massive rebuild after clearing out 14 players last season, while arch-rivals Hearts of Oak will be under the guidance of Serbian Nebolja Kapor. Reigning contenders Medeama SC have handed the job to former Ghana international Ibrahim Tanko, and Bibiani Gold Stars will be led by Greek coach Petros Koukouras.
Some of the most celebrated Ghanaian coaches are back. Samuel Boadu, a league winner with Hearts of Oak, returns to the dugout with Aduana FC, while Abdul Karim Zito makes a big return as he leads AshantiGold’s Premier League comeback. Berekum Chelsea have maintained faith in Kwaku Danso, Karela United stick with Nurudeen Amadu, and Basake Holy Stars will be under Abdulai Gazale.
The newly promoted clubs have also made bold appointments. Premier League returnees Swedru All Blacks have appointed veteran Kassim Mingle Ocansey, while newcomers Port City, Young Apostles and Debibi United will be led by Christopher Annin, Abdul Hennan and Isaac Nii Armah respectively. Bechem United have entrusted their side to Mohammed Bashar Ogba.
In terms of foreign influence, six expatriates will be in the league. They include Nebolja Kapor at Hearts, Petros Koukouras at Gold Stars, Eric Tinkler at Kotoko, Predrag Jeredic at Vision FC, Kasim Gokyildiz at Heart of Lions, and Predrag’s compatriot. At the other end, clubs like FC Samartex under Nana Kwaku Agyemang, Heart of Lions aside, Dreams FC under Winfred Dormon and others continue to show belief in the local coaching project.
With six foreign and twelve local coaches, the 2026/27 season is poised for a tactical battle of ideas. From title ambitions in Kumasi and Accra to survival fights among the newcomers, the stage is now set for one of the most intriguing Ghana Premier League seasons in recent memory.
