Asante Kotoko SC has triggered a major squad overhaul ahead of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season, confirming the departure of 14 players in one of the club’s biggest clearouts in recent years.
The club announced that six players have officially exited after the expiration of their contracts. The list includes reliable goalkeeper Mohammed Camara, defensive duo Samba O’Neil and Henry Ansu, midfielder Baba Yahaya, and forwards Peter Amidu Acquah and Albert Amoah. Their departure closes a chapter on a group that has been part of the club’s core over the past seasons.
In a separate development, Kotoko also confirmed that mutual agreements to terminate contracts were reached last month with eight additional players. They are goalkeepers Benjamin Twum, centre-back Zackaria Fuseini, left-back Francis Acquah, midfielder Prince Badu, and forwards Isaac Mintah, Kwame Opoku, Johnson Owusu, and Elvis Kyei Baffour. All eight are now free agents.
The decision, according to club sources, follows a comprehensive end-of-season technical review. Management and the technical team are seeking to refresh the squad with a focus on discipline, consistency, and a tactical identity that can compete both domestically and on the continent.
The mass exit underscores the pressure on the Porcupine Warriors to return to winning ways after a challenging 2025/26 campaign. With fan expectations high, the club is expected to move swiftly in the transfer market to announce quality replacements in the coming days.
While bidding farewell, the club expressed profound gratitude to the departing players for their service and wished them success in their future careers, assuring supporters that rebuilding is already underway.
