The Labone Koshien Baseball Field will come alive from Saturday, November 7, 2026, as the second season of the Ghana National Baseball League gets underway.
Defending champions Labadi Dodgers will be put to the test as they begin their title defence, following an impressive maiden campaign in which their consistency and performances entertained lovers and enthusiasts of the game, eventually earning them the ultimate glory ahead of their rivals, Tema Tigers.
This season, however, promises a bigger and more competitive contest, with seven teams divided into two groups of four and three respectively. The competition will adopt a single round-robin format to determine the semifinalists, with the grand finale scheduled for December 5, 2026.
Having worked tirelessly to improve the competition, the leadership of the Ghana National Baseball and Softball Federation, under the presidency of Ernest Danso, has successfully expanded the league from the initial four teams in its maiden edition to seven this season.
Labadi Dodgers and Tema Giant Hitters will face new entrants Teshie Astros and Volta Pirates in Group A, while runners-up Tema Tigers and Shai Osudoku Hawks will battle fellow newcomers Tema Royals in Group B.
Match Day One will see Tema Giant Hitters begin their campaign against newcomers Teshie Astros at 9:00 am, as they seek to bounce back with a winning start. That encounter will be followed by a Tema derby between Tema Tigers and Tema Royals at 11:30 am.
Group A action will resume at 2:00 pm, with defending champions Labadi Dodgers hosting newcomers Volta Pirates in what promises to be an interesting contest.
The wait is finally over, and the field is ready for the runs, the outs, the misses, the fly balls, the run-outs and, of course, the chants and cheers from the dugouts and the stands.
With three new teams joining the competition and the defending champions eager to retain their crown, baseball enthusiasts have every reason to look forward to an exciting season
