Grusah has dismissed the Ghana Football Association’s upcoming 32nd Ordinary Congress as “useless,” casting doubt on whether the gathering will produce any real change for Ghanaian football.
The GFA is set to hold the Congress on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram. But Grusah, a former member of the Black Stars Management Committee, has confirmed he won’t be attending — arguing that past editions of the Congress have consistently failed to deliver tangible solutions to the game’s problems.
“I will not attend this congress because it’s not worth attending. There is no formal convocation containing the agenda prior to the Congress that has been sent to me, so I think it’s the usual gathering of eating tilapia and chicken,” Grusah said on Asempa FM.
His remarks land just ahead of a Congress billed as a major checkpoint for Ghana football — one meant to review competitions, development programmes, governance structures, and the GFA’s broader strategic direction. The full-day session is also expected to give the GFA Executive Council a chance to update club representatives, technical officials, and other stakeholders on progress made and challenges still facing the sport.
The GFA has called on all delegates to come prepared, as the Association looks to use the Congress to strengthen football administration and development across the board.
But Grusah’s blunt assessment reopens a familiar debate: is the GFA Congress actually driving reform, or has it become a symbolic ritual with little substance behind it?
