Veteran football administrator and King Faisal Babies FC bankroller Alhaji Abdul Karim Grusah has described the Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) 32nd Ordinary Congress as “useless,” questioning its relevance in bringing meaningful change to Ghana football.
The GFA is scheduled to hold its 32nd Ordinary Congress on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram.
However, Grusah, a former member of the Black Stars Management Committee, says he will not attend the gathering, insisting that previous congresses have failed to produce tangible solutions to the challenges confronting Ghana football.
“I will not attend this congress because it’s not worth attending. There is no formal convocation containing the agenda prior to the Congress that has been sent to me, so I think it’s the usual gathering of eating tilapia and chicken,” he said on Asempa FM.
His comments come ahead of a Congress expected to serve as a key platform for reviewing the state of Ghana football, discussing competitions, development programmes, governance and the GFA’s strategic direction.
The full-day meeting is also expected to provide an opportunity for the GFA Executive Council to engage club representatives, technical officials and other stakeholders on progress made and challenges facing the sport.
The GFA has urged all delegates to prepare adequately for the Congress as the Association seeks to strengthen football administration and development at all levels.
Grusah’s criticism, however, raises questions about the effectiveness of the GFA’s Congress and whether it is delivering the meaningful reforms and decisions needed to transform Ghana football.
