Hearts of Oak have stepped up their squad restructuring ahead of the 2026/27 season, with the Phobians parting ways with seven players as the club continues to reshape its squad.
The departures include goalkeeper Solomon Agbesi, central defender and defensive midfielder David Oppong Afranie, midfielder Theophilus Collinson, winger Stephen Appiah Asare, forward Mawuli Wayo, striker Hamza Issah and winger Enoch Asubornteng.
Agbesi’s exit is rumoured to be a massive transfer rather than a release, with Hearts of Oak selling the goalkeeper as part of their ongoing squad restructuring. His departure also coincides with the club’s move to strengthen the goalkeeping department, including the signing of former Heart of Lions and Legon Cities goalkeeper Vincent Anane.
Beyond the goalkeeping position, the departure of six other players points to a broader rebuilding exercise at the Accra giants. Hearts have already been active in the transfer market and are continuing to reshape the squad with a mixture of new arrivals and exits.
The clear out creates room for further recruitment as the club prepares for the new campaign. With several positions being reassessed, more movement could follow before Hearts finalise their squad for the 2026/27 season.
As part of the rebuilding, the Phobians have recruited 11 new players to augment the team ahead of the season as they set sight on the league crown.
