The 2026/27 Ghana Premier League got off to an exciting start, with goals, dominant performances, dramatic comebacks and goalless draws highlighting an action-packed Match Day 1.
Accra Hearts of Oak SC started on a right note as the early league leaders after producing the biggest scoreline victory of the weekend with a commanding 4–0 triumph over Berekum Chelsea FC at the University of Ghana Stadium. Veteran striker John Antwi showed class with a brilliant brace, finding the net in the 5th and 37th minutes to give the Phobians a comfortable lead before half-time. Hearts continued to dominate after the break, and Kader Mamoudou added a third goal in the 88th minute. Ali Mohammed then completed the rout in the 90th minute, sealing all three points for Hearts of Oak. The emphatic victory puts Hearts of Oak at the summit of the league table after the opening round of games.
New entrant , Debibi United showed plenty of character in their league debut, holding giants Asante Kotoko to an entertaining 2–2 draw. Dogo Yakubu opened the scoring for Debibi United in the 14th minute, giving the home side an early advantage. Kotoko responded strongly after the interval. Richard Owusu struck twice, scoring in the 49th and 73rd minutes, to turn the game around. However, Debibi United refused to surrender. Hubert Gyau scored in the 79th minute to restore parity and earn the debutants a valuable point.
Bechem United began their campaign with a narrow victory over Bibiani Gold Stars. Bechem beat GoldStars by a lone goal. Dalvin Yeboah scored the decisive goal in the 45th minute, handing Bechem United all three points in a closely contested encounter.
Heart of Lions and Aduana Share the Points. There was nothing to separate Heart of Lions and Aduana FC as the two sides played out a goalless draw. Both teams collected a point from their opening fixture as they began the new campaign cautiously.
Basake Holy Stars secured a winning start after defeating Swedru All Blacks 1–0. Francis Oteng Gyetuah proved to be the match-winner, scoring in the 80th minute to give Holy Stars a crucial three points.
Debutants of the Ghana Premier League, Port City FC and FC AshantiGold 04 shared the spoils in an entertaining 1–1 draw. Zak Musah gave AshantiGold 04 the lead in the 16th minute, but Port City FC fought back in the second half. Hamza Zakari equalised in the 67th minute, ensuring both debutants walked away with a point. The result means Port City FC and FC AshantiGold 04 both scored in their league debut and collected a valuable point.
FC Samartex produced an impressive performance to beat Karela United 3–1. Eden Kofi Asamoah opened the scoring in the 39th minute, giving Samartex the advantage. Isaac Afful doubled the lead in the 51st minute, before Meshack Sowah made it 3–0 in the 69th minute. Karela United managed to pull one back through Wisdom Jonas P in the 85th minute, but it was too late to change the outcome.

On Saturday, Vision Football Club produced another impressive result, defeating Young Apostles FC 3–0. The convincing victory gives Vision FC a strong start to the new season and puts them among the early contenders after Match Day 1.
One Match Day 1 fixture remains outstanding that is Dreams FC vs Medeama, both team were on their Africa Continental assignment.
