The Phobians signal intent as rebuild continues under new technical direction
Accra Hearts of Oak have once again shown their ambition to return to the summit of Ghanaian football with a massive recruitment drive ahead of the upcoming 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season and cup competitions.
After a mixed 2024/25 campaign where the club finished 4th and struggled in front of goal, and a strong pre-season showing under former coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani, the Continental Club Masters are now under the guidance of head coach Nebojsa Kapor who is reshaping the team for honours. The Phobians are set to face rivals Asante Kotoko in the Democracy Cup on August 28 before the GPL kickoff.
The club’s latest batch of 11 new signings covers every department – from goal to attack – blending youth, experience, free agents and foreign flair.
The New Faces in full
Abdul Aziz – Left Back (Swedru All Blacks)
A modern attacking left-back known for his stamina and crossing. Expected to provide competition and depth on the left side of defence.
Prince Amevor – Right Back (Free Agent, ex-Hohoe United)
Confirmed on a three-year deal. The 24-year-old versatile full-back made 26 appearances last season and is known for pace and attacking ability. He joins as a free agent following Hohoe United’s withdrawal from the GPL. 3a3e
Manuel Osei Djan – Centre Back (PAC Academy)
Young, composed central defender from the renowned PAC Academy pipeline. A ball-playing CB for the future.
Alex Banso – Centre Back (Namoro FC)
Adds steel and aerial presence to the heart of defence. Will compete with the existing centre-back pairings.
Caleb Koranteng – Defensive Midfield (Victory Club Warriors)
A destroyer in midfield. Strong tackler who will shield the back four and allow the creatives to flourish.
Dominic Nsobila – Defensive Midfield (Free Agent)
Return of a familiar face? Nsobila brings GPL experience, work rate and leadership in the middle of the park.
Ebenezer Amoh – Midfielder (Free Agent)
Technically gifted central midfielder. Expected to add creativity and control in transition.
Rockson Kyeremeh – Forward (PAC Academy)
Highly-rated young striker from PAC Academy with an eye for goal.
Mamadou Kader Kourouma – Forward (Ivorian)
The foreign addition. The Ivorian attacker brings physicality and a different dimension to the Phobian attack that only managed 32 goals last season.
John Antwi – Forward (Dreams FC)
Experienced GPL campaigner. If it’s the veteran John Antwi, his experience and finishing will be invaluable. If it’s the younger namesake from Dreams, it’s a bet on pace and potential.
Vicente Anane – Goalkeeper (Free Agent)
New safe hands to compete with the current goalkeeping department, which was recently reinforced by Solomon Agbasi last season.
