Ghanaian boxer Seth Gyimah, popularly known as Freezy Macbones, has been crowned the new World Boxing Organisation (WBO) Africa Light Heavyweight champion after defeating Nigeria’s Godday “Zodsolo” Appah by unanimous decision in Lagos.

The championship bout took place on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at The Balmoral in Lagos, as part of the Balmoral Group’s Chaos in the Ring event, organised to commemorate Nigeria’s Independence Day celebrations.

Macbones delivered a composed and disciplined performance throughout the contest, impressing the judges with his display to secure a unanimous decision victory and claim the continental title.

The Ghanaian faced a challenging test against Appah, who enjoyed home support, but remained focused and determined as he worked his way to victory on Nigerian soil.

The result marks another important milestone in Macbones’ professional boxing career as he continues to establish himself on the African boxing scene.

For Appah, the defeat ended his bid to capture the WBO Africa Light Heavyweight championship in front of his home crowd.

Macbones’ triumph is expected to strengthen his position in the light heavyweight division and provide fresh momentum as he targets bigger opportunities on the international stage.

The victory also added a Ghanaian highlight to the Chaos in the Ring event, with Macbones returning from Lagos with the WBO Africa Light Heavyweight title.
