Medeama SC maintained their unbeaten start to the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season with a hard-fought 1–0 victory over debutants Debibi United at the Debibi Presby Park on Sunday. Kofi Babil scored the decisive goal in the 69th minute, earning Medeama another three points and the NASCO Most Valuable Player award for his match-winning contribution. The defending champions now sit at the summit of the league after five matches.

At the Nana Agyemang Badu II Park, Aduana FC came from behind to beat Swedru All Blacks 2–1, extending their winning streak to three matches. William Danquah gave the visitors an early lead in the fourth minute before Stephen Amankona levelled the score in the 35th minute. All Blacks were reduced to 10 men after Zayat Bubakari was sent off in the 53rd minute, and Amankona completed the comeback from the penalty spot in the 85th minute. The victory moved Aduana into fourth place on 10 points.

One of the weekend’s most entertaining encounters came at the Kpando Stadium, where Heart of Lions edged AshantiGold 3–2 in a five-goal thriller. AshantiGold’s William Oduro opened the scoring in the 19th minute, but Raphael Kwame Junior Ankamah responded three minutes later. Francis Odoom then put Heart of Lions ahead in the 36th minute before Oduro restored parity almost immediately. Ankamah scored his second after the break, but the home side held on for their first home victory of the campaign.

Port City FC also produced one of the day’s standout results, defeating Bechem United 3–1 at the Nana Boamah Darko II, Kukurantumi. Hamza Zakari opened the scoring in the 18th minute before Owusu Ansah doubled Port City’s advantage in the 34th minute. Francis Acquah pulled one back for Bechem United shortly after half-time, but Ansah restored the two-goal cushion three minutes later to complete his brace. The result underlined Port City’s strong start to their debut Premier League campaign.

Elsewhere, FC Samartex 1996 defeated Young Apostles 1–0, with Christian Agyenim Boateng scoring a first-half penalty to preserve Samartex’s unbeaten start. Basake Holy Stars recorded the same scoreline against Berekum Chelsea, courtesy of an early Francis Asante strike in the sixth minute. The weekend also produced goalless draws between Dreams FC and Hearts of Oak and between Vision FC and Bibiani Gold Stars.

With Matchday Five completed, Medeama lead the standings, followed by FC Samartex, Port City FC and Aduana FC, while Berekum Chelsea, Young Apostles and Dreams FC occupy the bottom three places. The latest round produced a mixture of narrow victories, dramatic comebacks and high-scoring contests, with several clubs beginning to establish their positions at both ends of the table.
