Hearts of Oak have made a powerful statement at the start of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League campaign after defeating GoldStars 2–1 at Duns Park, ending the home side’s remarkable 19-game unbeaten run at the venue. The hard-fought victory not only handed the Phobians another valuable three points but also established them as one of the early pace-setters in the new league season.

The result was particularly significant given GoldStars’ formidable record on home soil. Duns Park had become a difficult destination for visiting clubs, with GoldStars going 19 consecutive league matches without defeat before the arrival of the Phobians. Hearts of Oak, however, displayed composure, resilience and attacking intent to break that impressive sequence and leave with a priceless victory.

The Phobians’ performance also underlined their excellent start to the campaign. Having opened the season with a convincing 4–0 victory over Karela United, Hearts of Oak followed it up with another commanding result on the road, taking their tally to six goals from their opening two matches while conceding just one.

The early form represents a significant boost for the Accra giants, who appear determined to set the tone for what promises to be a competitive league campaign. Their ability to combine attacking efficiency with defensive discipline has already produced a perfect six-point return, placing them firmly among the teams generating early excitement around the title race.

For GoldStars, the defeat will be a bitter one, particularly after such a lengthy unbeaten sequence at Duns Park. Nevertheless, their home record had already established the venue as one of the league’s toughest grounds, making Hearts of Oak’s achievement all the more noteworthy.

With two victories from two matches, Hearts of Oak have announced their intentions early. The Phobians will now look to maintain their momentum as the season progresses, while their supporters will hope this perfect beginning develops into a sustained challenge for major honours.
