Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) Vice President George Afriyie has played down suggestions that his interest in the leadership of Ghana football is driven by a personal ambition to become GFA President. Afriyie said his primary concern is the progress and development of Ghana football rather than securing the top position at the Association.

Speaking in an interview with Sporty FM, Afriyie stressed that his motivation is centred on getting the best possible outcomes for Ghana football. He maintained that while leadership positions may attract attention, his interest goes beyond occupying an office and is instead focused on the direction, administration and development of the sport.

Afriyie, who previously served as Vice President of the GFA and has been involved in football administration for several years, indicated that his experience has given him a clear understanding of some of the challenges facing Ghana football. He suggested that discussions about the future of the sport should focus on finding effective solutions and creating an environment capable of improving the fortunes of the game at both national and grassroots levels.

His comments come amid continued discussions about leadership and the future direction of Ghana football. Afriyie reiterated that his commitment should be measured by his desire to contribute to the advancement of the sport, rather than by whether he eventually occupies the GFA presidency.
