Asante Kotoko have agreed to release head coach Eric Tinkler from his contract with immediate effect following a request by the South African tactician to leave the club for personal reasons.
The Ghanaian Premier League giants announced the decision in a statement issued on Monday, September 28, 2026, confirming that the club’s Board of Directors had accepted the coach’s request after discussions between the two parties.
According to the club, both parties had earlier engaged in meaningful negotiations in an attempt to prevent the departure. However, the discussions did not change Tinkler’s decision, which the club said it had ultimately agreed to respect.
The Porcupine Warriors expressed gratitude to Tinkler for his professionalism and commitment during his relatively short spell at the club, wishing him well in his future endeavours.
Despite the coaching change, Kotoko insist their sporting ambitions remain firmly on course, with the club’s technical team expected to continue implementing its plans under the leadership of Director of Football Stanley Purl Menzo.
