The 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season is already taking shape in the transfer market, with clubs across the country making significant moves to strengthen their squads. From established Premier League sides to newly promoted clubs, teams have been busy recruiting from the lower divisions, free agent market and overseas leagues as they prepare for another demanding campaign.
Medeama SC have been among the busiest clubs, assembling a squad with a blend of domestic experience and international recruitment. The Tarkwa based side have brought in Etse Dogli from Heart of Lions, Emmanuel Boateng from Eleven Wonders and Dominic Frimpong as a free agent. Usman Safianu, Abdul Rahman Yaya and Emmanuel Annor arrive from Nations FC, while Emmanuel Fobi joins from Georgian side Dila Gori. The club have also secured Issah Ibrahim from Latvia, Sudanese goalkeeper Monged Abuzaid Salman, Blessing Kwabena Dwamena and Jelillu Osman from New Edubiase, Emmanuel Anokye from Sporting Club Accra and Ebenezer Adade from Dreams FC.
Hearts of Oak have also been active as they attempt to build a stronger squad for the new season. The Phobians have signed Abdul Aziz from Swedru All Blacks, Ebenezer Amoh, Prince Amevor, Vincent Anane and Dominic Nsobila as free agents, while Rockson Kyeremeh and Manuel Osei Djan arrive from PAC Academy. Caleb Koranteng joins from Victory Club Warriors, Alex Banso from Namoro FC, while the club have also added Ivorian defender Mamadou Kader Kourouma. The arrival of goalkeeper Vincent Anane is particularly notable following the departure of Solomon Agbesi, who was sold by the club.
Port City FC, meanwhile, have strengthened their squad ahead of their Premier League campaign with several experienced additions. Kwabena Adu Meider, Francis Gyetuah, Samuel Gyimah and Daniel Amissah have joined as free agents, while Stephen Diyou and Daniel Osei Snr. arrive from Hohoe United. The club have also recruited Gideon Waja from WAFA, Elliot Affotey from Heart of Lions and Ishak Suraj from Lebanese side Al Ahly.
Swedru All Blacks have been equally aggressive in the market, bringing in Mohammed Musah Salifu from Tamale City, David Lartey from Dreams Chasers, Prince Arthur and Kelvin Ampoful from Nations FC, and Samuel Osei Kofi from Nsuopun Fidelity. Faisal Chawetey joins as a free agent, while Vincent Baah Jnr arrives from Tema Faith. The club have also recruited Michael Abrokwa from Nations FC, John Ahuma Ocansey and Godfred Yartey from Cheetah FC, Andy Koramoah from Auroras, Kojo Quansah from FC Samartex and Latif Blessing from Cheetah FC.
FC Samartex have added Ebenezer Okrah from Golden Kick, Prince Affum from Sefwi All Stars, Joshua Fuseini from Golden Kick and Meshack Adjetey Sowah from Vision FC. Aduana FC have also made several additions, including Shawkan Hunalf Mohammed, Stephen Amankona and Bismark Anim as free agents. Samuel Tenedu arrives from Berekum Chelsea, Boa At Regain and Emmanuel Abban from Bechem United, Abdul Latif Mohammed from Victory Club Warriors and Zakaria Fuseini from Techiman Liberty Youth.
AshantiGold 04 have gone beyond Ghana for some of their recruitment, signing Raphael Kodjo Etchonou from ESA Academy in Togo and Ben Yamine Nassirou Kabore from Etoile Filante in Burkina Faso. Kamal Suraje, Kwaku Musah and Alhassan Benny arrive as free agents, while Fatao Seidu, Sirinu Huzaifah, Saddick Ibrahim Abubakar and Ishmael Acquah have joined from Skyy FC. William Addo comes from Unity FC and Thomas Kwabena Osei from Heart of Lions.
Gold Stars have added Nicholas Amekpewu from Elmina Sharks, while Claude Shooting Bortey and Kwame Opoku arrive as free agents. Heart of Lions have recruited Francis Odoom from Hohoe United, Abdul Jalilu as a free agent, and have also added Edmund Wireko, William Oduro, Pius Baffuor, Sena Ati, Mustapha Yakubu and Stephen Afoakwa from Faith Football Academy.
Berekum Chelsea have also begun reshaping their squad with additions including Jamal Haruna, Diawisie Taylor, Awuah Dramani, Chyereme Shadirac, Fuseini Zakaria, Zulka Massawudu and Augustine Boakye. At Asante Kotoko, the Porcupine Warriors have brought in goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim as a free agent, Emmanuel Mamah from FC Samartex, Ivorian Koffi Marius Ange Bini, Isaac Opoku Agyemang as a free agent, Burkinabe Abdoul Kader Tarnagda, Cameroonian Solomon Nsor Asaah, Moroccan Abdel Wadie Mourad and Umar Ali from Albanian side Partizani.
Karela United have also been active, recruiting Wisdom Jonas Manyina from RTU, Frank Ackom from Nsuopun Fidelity, Iddi Mahfuz and Edmund Afurapoe from Eleven Wonders, Kwaku Musah, Angel Ewulla and Collins Ntiful from Okwawu United, Issah Abdul Basit from Golden Warriors, Mohammed Alhassan Mankuyeli, Ebenezer Amegah from Hohoe United and Prince Opoku Agyemang as a free agent.
For Vision FC, the current additions include Kwadwo Boamah from Hohoe United and Faruk Mohammed from Nations FC. With the transfer window still providing room for further movement, several clubs are expected to make additional signings before the opening round of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season.
The early transfer activity points to another highly competitive campaign, with clubs investing heavily in experience, youth and overseas talent. For supporters, the big question now is whether these new arrivals can translate their reputations and previous performances into results when the league finally gets underway.
